Standard Diploma Tracks

Overview

The Standard Diploma Track is designed for students seeking a well-rounded, academically robust online high school education. Through Open Learner, students can pursue an American high school diploma fully online, supported by a structured and flexible learning model.

Eligibility

Open to all students enrolled in Open Learner’s Online High School, this diploma track provides a clear and supportive pathway toward graduation.

Students joining from non-American education systems may be required to submit their academic records for evaluation:

  • Grade 10 Admission:
Students seeking admission into Grade 10 or higher must provide their previous school transcripts/mark sheets. If Grade 9 (or equivalent) was not completed under the U.S. education system, credentials must be evaluated by the International Education Research Foundation (IERF).
  • Credential Evaluation Requirement:
The evaluation ensures that previous coursework aligns with U.S. standards. This evaluation report must be submitted to Brigham Young University (BYU) before students can progress to Grade 12 or the Diploma Program.
  • IERF Details:
IERF is an independent, non-profit organization that provides credential evaluations for international students. Applicants can begin their evaluation process through the official IERF website: https://www.ierf.org

This process ensures that all Open Learner students have a recognized and accredited pathway toward earning their U.S. High School Diploma, regardless of their prior educational background.

Credit Requirements

To earn the Standard Diploma, students must complete a minimum of 24 total credits (equivalent to 48 semester credits). At least 25% of these credits must be earned through Open Learner’s Online High School to qualify for graduation.

Curriculum Goals

The Standard Diploma Track ensures students gain a broad-based education while also offering the flexibility to choose courses that align with their academic interests and career goals. This balance prepares students for higher education as well as success in the workforce.

Why Choose the Standard Diploma Track?

  • Globally Recognized – Provides a U.S.-based high school diploma accessible online.

  • Balanced Preparation – Builds a strong academic foundation while supporting college readiness.

  • Flexible Learning – Students can progress through courses online at their own pace, with structured support.
